The Problem:

These images, and others, are floating around the internet, indicating that there is a need in the market.

Figure 1. Productivity is slashed by constantly having to log in again to Outlook, Teams, Copilot, not to mention other suppliers like Atlassian.

The Solution:

I hereby propose a new service: Microsoft Authenticator As A Service, or MSAaaS for short. This service will provide your password, deal with expired sessions, re-enter your password if that is apparently randomly needed, it will check for the MFA token, acknowledge it and enter the MFA token back into the service which created it in the first place.

This will allow you to get on with your working day as if you didn't have to log in to a dozen different apps each day to get your work done, with each app requiring its own multi-factor authentication (MFA) confirmation, sometimes timing out, sometimes never getting through at all.

Just give us all your passwords, and control over your mobile device, and we simply automate the rest!

With this remarkable new innovation, we can zoom forward to being almost as productive as we were back in 2019!

There is a minor cost that the MSAaaS service will store all of your credentials in yet another third-party service just waiting to be hacked, leaked and exploited, but hey that happens all the time these days anyway, so there is nothing at all to worry about on that front! Just enjoy the new convenience of being able to launch your email app without re-entering your username, password, and MFA token just so you can read an email sending you a spreadsheet which then requires you to re-enter your username, password, and a new MFA token. If that spreadsheet contains a link to a Sharepoint document, you'll need to enter your username, password and MFA token yet again, so you may as well just give up and trust my unproven third-party service to save you the hassle.

Isn't it great that MFA gives us all of this extra security over our data?!
